"It's the day we have to leave... but it was so much fun staying here!  You can see the sunrise from the front porch.  It's beautiful!  We loved the porch swing.  We would sit outside and read at night with a pillow and rock on the swing."
"Hope everyone else enjoys the house as much as we did!"
"This is the way beach houses should be!"

"As I sit here swinging on the front porch, I can't help but truly appreciate the simplicity of a week at the beach in a beach house that is truly what a beach house should be - a place where you can put your feet up, relax and enjoy.  Thank you for keeping it the way it should be.  We love the house and the beach.  We will be back."
"We shared both levels of the house with extended family, and we had a great time sitting out on the porch and playing cards.  Loved the porch swings!"
"Thanks so much for lending your beach house to us.  There's nothing better than lounging on the beach and with a house only 2 minutes from the shore made it ideal.  It is a wonderful place in great condition."

"We have been renting this wonderful home for quite a few years.  Each time we have had an absolutely wonderful time."
"Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful house with us.  This is our 4th summer traveling down together and we have all agreed this house goes above and beyond the "perfect vacation beach house.  We rented both units which was perfect for cooking large meals and seating areas and we certainly did not lack anything we needed in the kitchen!  The location to the beach is perfect and the porches were a delight."
"We have come down here 4 years in a row - and each time has been a pleasure and we always enjoy ourselves.  We have had some great times in this house and the memories will last forever."
"Thank you for all the "extras" that made our stay so special!"
"This house was perfect for our kids, parents and in-laws.  Plenty of room to eat (outside especially), and every item that we could possibly need but not pack into the car.  Your beaches are beautiful.  Your history is fascinating."
815 Carolina Beach Avenue, North was built in 1940 (then the house number was 6??).  It went through several owners and survived Hurricane Hazel, which hit October 15, 1954.  A family named the Lancasters bought the house late that year and their then teenage son was given the job of shoveling the sand from the first floor which was then right on the ground.  The house had 2 bedrooms and one bath on each floor and the porches and the upstairs deck (18 inches wider) where the family sunbathed and grilled out.
In 1955 Mr. Lancaster had the house raised on a foundation, installed the pine paneling and added the back bedrooms.  They also added brand new pine cabinets and "formica" counters and a bar to divide the living room and kitchen.  The Lancasters lived here until their deaths and operated the Kupboard Grocery on the corner of Sandpiper and Carolina Beach Avenue, North.
We bought the house in 2003 from the Lancaster's son and daughter.  We added the new bathrooms on each floor and the outdoor shower.  Other than that, the house is the same as when we bought it.
815 is one of the quickly disappearing "old" beach houses at Carolina Beach.  We love it because of its history and charm, and we hope you enjoy your stay.
